WPPC understands the negative impacts to the State of Wyoming if the greater sage-grouse becomes listed under the Federal Endangered Species Act.
SCIENTIFIC RESEARCH: There is currently little research on the impacts of wind development on the greater sage-grouse and WPPC supports the use of thorough scientific research to reach a better understanding. Over the next several years the wind industry will be working with stakeholders on collaborative research to determine what impacts wind energy development has on the greater sage-grouse.
SOLUTIONS: The wind and transmission industries have long histories of working through wildlife issues and have created solutions to many difficult problems. Both industries have demonstrated that wind turbines and transmission lines can coexist with migratory birds, and WPPC believes that through scientific research, solutions can be found that allow them to coexist with the great sage-grouse.
